AVM

An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels connecting arteries and veins, bypassing normal capillaries. This disrupts normal blood flow and oxygen circulation, often in the brain or spinal cord. AVMs can cause headaches, seizures, neurological deficits, or life-threatening bleeding if they rupture.

Diagnosis involves imaging techniques like MRI or cerebral angiography. Treatment options include observation, surgical removal, endovascular embolization, or radiosurgery, depending on the AVM’s size, location, and symptoms. Early diagnosis and management help reduce the risk of complications.
