Cavernoma

Cavernoma

A cavernoma, also known as a cavernous malformation, is a cluster of abnormal, dilated blood vessels in the brain or spinal cord. These vessels are fragile and can leak blood, causing symptoms like headaches, seizures, neurological deficits, or bleeding. Some cavernomas remain asymptomatic and are found incidentally.

Diagnosis is typically made with MRI. Treatment depends on symptoms and may include monitoring, medication for seizures, or surgical removal if the cavernoma causes significant problems or bleeding.
